Giving

Companion defines "giving" as making "Dreams Come True" through the Southern California Hospice Foundation, which is made possible by your donations.

In the last several years, Companion has fulfilled hundreds of wishes for people who have limited time to see their dreams come true.

Here are a few real examples of how your giving has helped make a real difference:

3-year-old Tiffany suffered from cancer for most of her young life. She needed hospice care and hospitalization, none of which was covered by her insurance. The most difficult thing for parents to endure is the loss of a child. Tiffany's birthday wish was to have a princess doll as big as she was. Imagine her delight when that was made possible in her hospital room. She proudly wore her fairy princess gown and tiara through her pokes and prods with tubes and needles. The pictures tell the story of how much that meant to her and her family. After Tiffany's death, Companion was still there to help her parents understand and receive support while grieving the loss of this most perfect child.

Imagine being told, at 39 years old, that you have a terminal illness and your prognosis is very short. Imagine telling your wife and your three little daughters that their future has been changed forever. Hector's dream was to take his family to Disneyland. He had never been able to afford to take them. Companion not only made a wonderful day possible, but his children were given enough Disney dollars for the extra expenses at being at a theme park such as lunch, drinks, cotton candy, ice cream and lots of souvenirs. They were ushered into the park by Mickey himself and treated like royalty all day. It was a gorgeous and sunny day and it is a memory that his family will cherish for a lifetime.

Every November our staff is privileged to put together baskets overflowing with food. Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. Our social workers and chaplains deliver them to families who could not otherwise afford Thanksgiving.

Companion has made it possible for families with limited financial funds to relieve some of the burdens of daily life such as food gift cards, anniversary flowers, birthday parties, weddings, funeral assistance and more.

Hospice is about living. Living is made easier with the money donated to the Southern California Hospice Foundation.

What a wonderful way for you to participate in making "Dreams Come True". Your gift to the Southern California Hospice Foundation will support local hospice and end of life care for all who need it, regardless of ability to pay.

The Southern California Hospice Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation. Its goal is to improve access to quality end of life care in your local area.
